INTRODUCTION

Sainik Foundation School is a co-educational English medium school functioning as a subsidiary of Sainik School Imphal. The school imparts quality education to children in their most important formative years of life. The school serves as a nursery for preparation of pupils for admission to class VI. Apart from preparing the students academically, the school endeavours to develop character, team spirit, loyalty and a sense of discipline amongst the students of the school. The methods of instruction imparted by the teachers are group activities, play way techniques, language games, number games and other similar activities. The school follows the motto of 'Learning with pleasure' and "Learning while playing".

LOCATION

The school is located in a picturesque area within the campus of Sainik School Imphal providing an ideal and serene environment for education of young children.

RULES FOR ADMISSION

Parents can procure Prospectus-cum-Application form from the School office and submit duly completed application along with two passport size photographs and photo copy of the Birth certificate on a date fixed by the school. Only those forms which are complete in all respect and fulfill the conditions as laid down in the admission rules will be accepted. Admission to nursery class will be done after draw of lots with parent and child. The selected list will be published separately. The child should be between 3 to 4 years of age on 1st july of the year of admission. However, no new admissions are made normally into class KG to class V, except filling up vacancies, if available.

CLASSES

In addition to Nursery and KG classes, the school caters for class I to V following NCERT books and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus. In order to ensure closer and effective teacher student interaction, the strength of each class is restricted to an optimum level.

SCHOOL HOURS

The school office will remain open from 0800 hrs to 1400 hrs. However, the students will follow the following schedule : -
Nursery and K G:      8.00 AM to 12.00 NOON
Class I to Class V:    8.00 AM to 1.20 PM

CURRICULUM

The school prepares its students for CBSE pattern of education. The medium of instruction is English. The school follows text books published by NCERT and other reputed publishers.

COMPUTER EDUCATION

The students of class III onwards are provided with exposure to computers at the Computer Lab of Sainik Foundation School. The school is taking number of steps to introduce Computer Based Training (CBT) in all classes.

GAMES AND SPORTS

Games and Sports form an integral part of the School education. The school has adequate facilities of Sainik School available for indoor and outdoor games. The school also has an auditorium to conduct various co-curricular activities. The services of highly qualified and experienced Army PT Instructors of Sainik School Imphal are also available to the school in conducting various organised games and sports.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The school provides ample scope for all round personality development of the children through extra-curricular activities.

HOUSE SYSTEMS

The students (Class I to V) are divided into four Houses, namely; RAMAN, TAGORE, NETAJI and SHIVAJI for Inter-House competition in literary, social, cultural and games and sports fields. Each house is placed under the charge of two Housemistresses and has its own House Captain. All competition in academics, games and co-curricular activities are held on 'House' basis.

EXAMINATION AND PROMOTION

There are three Terminal Examinations conducted during the academic year. Besides, the school carries out continuous and comprehensive evaluation of the pupils to assess their progressive development. There is no detention in any class, as such all the pupils are promoted to the next higher classes after remedial teaching. The School follows grading system instead of awarding marks in the examination as per CBSE guidelines.

LIBRARY

The school has developed its own library with many interesting books for children and regularly useful books are added to the Library every year.

MEDICAL ATTENTION

Primary medical assistance is available within the Sainik School campus.

BOOKS AND STATIONERY

All text books and stationery items are provided to the students under school arrangement at a discounted price. However, procurement of text books and stationery items from the school is purely optional. List of text books for various classes can be obtained separately from the school office.

ADMINISTRATION

The administration, supervision and control of the Sainik Foundation School is vested with the Vice Principal, Sainik School Imphal as Officer Incharge of the school. The School has a School Management Committee (SMC) with the Principal, Sainik School Imphal as its Chairman. The SMC meets at regular interval to review the progress of the school and to adopt measures for its growth and further improvement.

FEE STRUCTURE

The education in Sainik Foundation School is highly subsidized, however, the parents are required to bear a part of the expenditure for progressive growth and development of the school. The fee structure is valid for one year. The fee structure for the academic session 2017-18 is as under : -

TUITION FEE

Tuition fee is to be paid on half yearly basis for entire academic session ( 12 months ) i.e from April to March. Half yearly fee is to be paid on or before 14th of October of the year, failing which a late fee of Rs. 10/- will be charged on per day basis.

TRANSPORT

The school does not have any transport arrangement. Parents are to make their own arrangement for the conveyance of children to the school.

TIMINGS FOR MEETING THE HEADMISTRESS

The parents are requested to discuss about their children's progress with Headmistress from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents are, however, requested to co-operate with her in her endeavour for improvement of every child in the school.

PARENTS TEACHER MEETING

Parent Teacher Meetings are held regularly for improvement of the children's performance. Parents are requested to send their children to school in neat and clean uniform. No costly ornaments or other valuables are allowed to be brought to the school. The school authorities will not be responsible for loss of any such items if brought to the school.

WITHDRAWAL FROM THE SCHOOL

Before withdrawing a child from the school, the parents are to give prior notice of one month or one month's tuition fee in lieu of the notice period. The school authorities may also withdraw a child on disciplinary or medical grounds if it is considered that continuation of the child in the school is detrimental to the general discipline/interest of the school.
