CONGRATULATIONS
33rd SOULS OF SSI
|
Cadets
of 33rd SOULS of this school achieved historic and unprecedented
success in this year Officers’ entry scheme. Out of 24 UPSC qualified cadets 14
cleared SSB interview and 13 of them made it to NDA and NA for pre-commission
military training. One cadet was declared medically unfit. Also first time 02
cadets of this school from Mizoram state joined NDA.

INDIA SCIENCE FAIR-2011
|
Cdt
Parikshit Thoudam (Adm No 2721), Cdt Ajitkumar Khoinaijam (Adm No 2807) and Cdt
Miranda Thoudam (Adm No D-201) brought laurels to the state of Manipur by
winning prizes in Science Quiz Competition, Work Experience Camp and Science
Exhibition of Eastern India Science Fair 2011 held at BITM, Kolkata from 11 Jan
to 15 Jan 2011. The Fair was organized by Birla Industrial & Technological
Museum (National Council of Science
Museums, Ministry of Culture, Govt of India) in association with Education
Departments and SCERT of North Eastern States,
Andaman & Nicobar
Islands and Bihar. They represented Manipur by qualifying the State Level
Science Exhibition held at Bengali High School, Imphal from 15 Dec to 18 Dec
2010. Cdt Parikshit Thoudam and Cdt
Ajitkumar Khoinaijam jointly as a team bagged first position in Science Quiz
Competition. Also, Cdt Parikshit Thoudam stood first in Work Experience Camp
(Life Science) while Cdt Ajitkumar and Cdt Miranda got special prizes in Work
Experience Camp (Mask Making) and Science Exhibition respectively.

FORTNIGHTLY
MOTIVATIONAL LECTURES
|
Interactive
programmes were conducted in the Manekshaw
Auditorium of the school during
the period. Many prominent figures like Shri Bablu Loitongbam and Prof Amar
Yumnam gave a series of motivational lectures on human rights and
globalisation. The main purpose of organising such programmes is to give an
opportunity to the cadets to interact with leading personalities in respective
fields.

DEREK
O BRIEN INTER-SCHOOL QUIZ
|
An
Inter-School Quiz Competition was organised in the Manekshaw Auditorium of the
school by Derek O Brien Group under the sponsorship of Idea Mobile and Birla
Group of Industries as a part of the National Inter-School Skill Fest, Manipur
Chapter on 23 Mar 2011. In the competition, Cdt Vikash Arambam (Adm No 2881) of
Class IX bagged first position. He will represent the state of Manipur at the
National level competition.

STATE
LEVEL SCIENCE QUIZ COMPETITION
|
Cdt Marli (Adm No
2954) and Cdt Kirong Apang (Adm No 2958) of class X participated in the State
Level Science Quiz Competition organized by Department of Education (S), Govt
of Manipur on 14 May 2011 at CC Higher Secondary School, Imphal. In the
competition, Cdt Kirong Apang stood second position and was awarded with prize
and certificate.

MASTEC
SCIENCE DECLAMATION COMPETITION
|
Cdt Parikshit
Thoudam (Adm No 2721) and Cdt MirandaThoudam (Adm No D-201) brought laurels to
school by securing first and second position in the Science Declamation
Competition organized by MASTEC on 11 May 11 at Iboyaima Sumang Leela Sanglen,
Imphal. They were awarded with cash prizes and certificates.

NATIONAL MUAYTHAI CHAMPIONSHIP
|
Cdt Ansar Mustafa
(Adm No 2895) of class X won a gold medal in the 12th National
Junior & Sub-Junior Muaythai Championship 2011 held from 22 to 27 May 2011
at MTI National Headquarter, Bangaluru, Karnataka in 40 to 42 Kg category. In
the same championship held in 2009, he won Bronze medal also.

|
A friendly
cricket match was played between the school staff and cadets on 09 Apr 2011 in
the school football ground. The main purpose of organizing such
match is to have informal interaction and give a platform to the cadets
to develop the spirit of sportsmanship. In the match, the staff team defeated
the cadets team.

YOGA
DEMONSTRATION
|
A yoga
demonstration was given by a disciple of Baba Ramdev at the school football
ground on 11 May 11. The Yoga Guru
demonstrated various forms
of Pranayam exercises. The school
cadets showed keen interest in various asans
demonstrated by the yoga guru.

REPUBLIC
DAY CELEBRATIONS
|
62nd Republic
Day was celebrated in the school premises with great zeal and fervour. Col (Dr)
Ravi Kumar, the school Principal unfurled the national tri-color and addressed
the cadets reminding them of the supreme sacrifices and struggles of the
country’s great freedom fighters. On
the auspicious occasion, many activities like pledge taking, sweets
distribution and ‘Bara-Khana’ were organized. A contingent of 70 school NCC
cadets and school
band also
participated in
the State Level Republic Day Celebrations. School Marching and School
Band Contingents were adjudged first in the competition and won Governor’s
Shields.

CERTIFICATE
OF HONOUR
|
A Letter of
Appreciation was given to Mr A Rommel Singh, Asst Master in Biology by
Department of Education (S), Govt of Manipur for his altruistic guidance given
to the cadets of the school in various competitions and seminars organized in
different parts of the country. Under his
supervision, the
school cadets
won various
competitions at Zonal Level Science Competition, Eastern India Science Fair,
State and National Talent Search Examinations, Science Seminars and many other
co curricular activities.

VIRASAT
SERIES
|
A band of
Classical musicians led by renowned flutist, Pandit Ronu Mazumdar and the
famous tabla artist, Pandit Pawan Bordoloi gave a mesmerizing performance in
the Manekshaw Auditorium of the school on 16 Mar 2011. Pt Mazumdar’s flute’s
(Bansuri) melodious notes reminded the audience of the mythical Ras Leela of
Lord Krishna with the Gopis. Again on 27 Apr 2011, the famous vocalist Dr Raja
Kale presented classical songs and classical vocal recitals which enthralled
the audience. The program was
organized by the school as a part of Virasat
Series 2011-12 by
SPICMACAY, Imphal Chapter to promote Indian Classical Music, Dance and
Culture amongst youth.

“BIRTHDAY”
OF CLASS XII CELEBRATED
|
“Birthday”
of Class XII was celebrated on 14 Jun 2011 in
the Cadets’
Mess with
great pomp and show . On
this festive day, cadets presented a brief variety entertainment program and
shared experiences of their stay at the school. A grand dinner was also
organized in the Cadets’ Mess.

SCHOOL
APPOINTMENTS
|
During
an investiture ceremony held on 21 Apr 2011 in the school, the cadet
appointments were given rank badges. From this academic session, senior cadet
appointments would be rotated for every three months with an aim to provide
maximum platform to all cadets to develop leadership quality in them.

EX-STUDENT
CLEARES IAS
|
Shri
L Prabhunanda Singh (Adm No 2062) has become the first ex-student of Sainik
School Imphal who passed the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) conducted by
UPSC for the year 2010-11. He joined the school in 1999 and passed out in 2003.
Previously he joined IMA and Naval Academy under Technical Entry Scheme in
2005. To honour the school alumnus a reception cum interaction programme was
organised in the Arjan Hall of the school on 14 May 2011. Col (Dr) Ravi Kumar,
the school Principal presiding over the function.

LEELA (COURT-YARD DRAMA)
|
Sumang Leela named “Lamjingba” (Leader) was
played by Sanaleibak Nachom Artists Association Manipur at the school football
ground on 11 May 11. It was organized as a part of school recreation programs
prior to commencement of Summer Vacation.

|
A staff club
party was organized in the School Auditorium on 20 Apr 11 in connection with
reception of Mrs Basanti Bhat, School First Lady
and welcome to newly wed couple of Mr and Mrs O Dheinachandra. Staff and
family members
made the evening a memorable one by showcasing their latent talent and
entertainment skills.

CHAIRMAN VISITS THE SCHOOL

Mtn Div and Chairman of Local Board of Administration, Sainik School Imphal
visited the school on 10 Jan 2011. The Chairman reviewed the ongoing projects
in the school. He visited the various facilities of the school like
dormitories, Computer Lab, Language Lab, etc. A Bara Khana was also organized
in the Cadets’ Mess. He also interacted with the school cadets and exhorted
them to realize their long cherished dream of joining the Defence Services
officers’ cadre.

been organizing educational tours to various places with an aim of giving
cadets an exposure to the outside environment and breaking the monotony of the
school routine.
