ANNUAL
DAY CELEBRATION |
The
38th Annual Day of the school was celebrated on 19 Dec 09 with great
zest and fervor. Major General DS Hooda, VSM**, General Officer Commanding 57
Mountain Division and Chairman, Local Board of Administration of the school
presided over the function. The celebrations started with the
inauguration of Science & Arts and Defence Equipment Exhibition by Mrs
Rashmi Hooda, President of AWWA. The main cynosure of the Exhibition was the
Defence Equipment Display by various Regiments of Indian Army to motivate the
cadets. A mega display of models made by cadets was another overwhelming part
of the Exhibition. The cadets also showcased their talent and skill by giving
scintillating performance during the cultural programme. |
BRIG
RANJIT SINGH VISITS |
Brig
Ranjit Singh, Inspecting Officer, Sainik Schools Society visited the school
from 22 to 24 Dec 09. During his visit, he conducted an Orientation Programme
for SSB interview for the cadets who qualified UPSC Written Test for entry to
124 Course at National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune. A two days’ yoga class was
also conducted under his supervision. |
VISIT
TO RAJ BHAVAN |
A
group of 110 cadets and staff of Sainik School Imphal accompanied by Principal
paid a visit to Raj Bhavan on 15 Jul 09 and interacted with His Excellency Shri
Gurbachan Jagat, Governor of Manipur. During the interaction, the Governor
advised the cadets to excel in all spheres of life through hard work,
dedication and sincerity of purpose. The main part of the interaction was the
wide-ranging discussion on various issues at national and state level which
could motivate the young cadets in choosing Defence Services as a career. |

LBA CHAIRMAN VISITS |
Special
Project Assistance
funded
by Govt
of Manipur. He also interacted with cadets and expressed his words of
satisfaction over their excellent performance in academics and co-curricular
activities. |
VISIT
OF INSPECTING OFFICER |
Group Captain VT Parnaik, Inspecting Officer, Sainik Schools Society
visited the school from 04 to 06 Oct 09. He interacted with the cadets and the
staff members. During the interaction various issues were discussed minutely
for the welfare of the school. |
RESULT
OF UPSC WRITTEN TEST |
Twenty
seven cadets of the school cleared the Union Public Service Commission Written
Test for entry to 124 Course at National Defence Academy, Pune. This is another
landmark in the history of the school for being the maximum number of cadets
passed in this Exam.

ANNUAL
ATHLETIC
MEET |
The
36th Annual Athletic Meet was held from 11 Dec to 15 Dec 09 at the
School Football Ground. The Opening Ceremony was inaugurated by Group Captain
Surinder Singh, Principal of the school on the arrival of Athletic Flame taken
from Tulihal Airport by class XII cadets. The Meet concluded on 15 Dec 09 in a
peaceful manner with Dr Ratan Kumar, Hon’ble MLA and Chairman, Manipur
Electronics
Development Corporation Ltd presiding over the Closing Ceremony Function.
Tagore House bagged the trophy of Best House in Games and Sports. Cadet M Suraj
Singh (Adm No 2498) and Cadet M Bimolchand (Adm No 2764) of Tagore House bagged
the Best Athlete Awards for Senior and Junior categories respectively. |
VISIT
OF RS GREWAL
|
Brig
RS Grewal, Dy GOC 57 Mtn DIV visited the school on 27 Nov 09 and interacted
with cadets. He also presided over the 60th LBA Meeting. |
INTER
ZONAL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP |
Sainik
School Imphal became the Champion of the Champions by defeating all other zones
- South Zone Champion, Central Zone Champion, West Zone Champion and North Zone
Champion in the Inter Zonal Football Championship held at Sainik School
Koroukonda (Andra Pradesh) from 01 to 04 Aug 09. The school team qualified to
participate in the said Championship by emerging Champion in the East Zone
Sainik Schools Football Championship held at Sainik School Purulia (West
Bengal) by defeating the host school team, Purulia, Sainik School Goalpara
(Assam) and Sainik School Punglwa (Nagaland). Cadet Lalhriatpuia, Adm No 2403
of class XI was declared ‘Best Player’ for his outstanding performance in the
Championship. |
INTER
SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION
|
An
Inter School Quiz Competition was held on 7 Oct 09 in the school auditorium.
The Competition exclusively for outside schools was organized by Sainik School
Imphal in connection with the observance of its 38th Raising Day
Celebration. Six schools namely TG Higher Secondary School, CC Higher Secondary
School, JNV Bishenupur, KV Langjing, Kanan Devi Memorial School and Pari Imom
Khwai Shindam Shang took part in the Competition. KV Langjing and CC Higher
Secondary School bagged 1st and 2nd positions
respectively. |
CBSE
MODEL MAKING COMPETITION |
Two
cadets namely Parikshit Thoudam and N Arunkumar participated in the National
Level CBSE Exhibition 2009 held at Delhi on 22 and 23 Oct 09. They qualified to
participate in the event after bagging the first place
among 39 schools participated from 8North
Eastern States in the Science Exhibition held at Guwahati.

School
Football Teams both for Under-14 and Under-17 participated in the Golden
Jubilee Subroto Cup 2009 held at Dr Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi from 06 to 25 Oct
09. Under-14 Team qualified to play Quarter Final for the first time in the
history of the school against West Bengal. |
CERTICATE
OF HONOUR

A
Letter of Appreciation was given to Mr Abdul Haque, Asst Master in English by
Group Captain VT Parnaik, Inspecting Officer, Sainik Schools Society for his
dedication, hard work and sincerity in producing 71 cadets who secured
distinction in English in All India Secondary Examination 08-09. Cdt Ralte (Adm
No 2522) secured the highest mark in English in AISE with 98%. |

INAUGURATED |
Major
General Shakti Gurung VSM, GOC 57 Mountain Division and former Chairman, LBA of
Sainik School Imphal inaugurated the MIG-21 aircraft shell on 28 Aug 09 during
a visit to the school. |

MESS RENOVATED |
Modernised
Kitchen of Cadets’ Mess was renovated with the installation of Steam Cooking
System and Stainless Steel Dining Table at a cost of Rs.20 lacs. It was
inaugurated by Major General DS Hooda, VSM*** GOC 57 Mtn Div on the 38th
Annual Day Celebration of the school. |

The
NDA Resource Center constructed at a cost of Rs 23 lacs under the Special
Project Assistance funded by the State Govt was inaugurated by Shri L
Jayentakumar Singh, Hon’ble Education Minister, Govt of Manipur on 7 Oct 09 on
the occasion of Raising Day of the school.

RESERVOIR INAUGURATED |
Water
Reservoir of the school with a capacity of 4 crore litres of water was
inaugurated by Shri L Jayentakumar Singh, Hon’ble Education Minister, Govt of
Manipur on 7 Oct 09. It was constructed at the cost of Rs 67 lacs under the
Special Project Assistance funded by the State Govt. |
DENTAL
CAMP |
A
two days’ free Dental Camp was conducted at the school under the medical team
from HQ 57 Mtn Div, Leimakhong on 11 and 12 August 2009. The team comprising of
specialist doctors, technicians and a Mobile Unit was led by Captain (Dr)
Depika Yadon. 72
cadets were given treatment and free health-care advice.

TEACHER’S
DAY OBSERVED |
The
cadets of the school observed Teacher’s Day Celebration on 5 Sep 09 to pay
homage to teachers. On this auspicious day, cadets showcased their talent and
skill by performing various exhilarating shows and entertainment programmes. |
PARENT-TEACHER
ASSOCIATION (PTA) MEETING |
PTA
Meeting was held on 6 Sep 09 in the school auditorium. More than 150 parents
were present in the meeting which focused mainly on the overall development of
the cadets and welfare of the school.

RAJASTHANI
FOLK DANCE BY SPICMACAY |
A
group of 10 Rajasthani folk artists under the aegis of
Shri Roje Khan Maniayar presented a mesmerizing performance in the school
auditorium on 29 Jul 09. The band of musicians gave a live rendition of aged
old traditional Rajasthani folk music compositions. The famous Kalbeliya Dance
was also performed by two talented dancers. Such programmes are organized by
the school as a Sub-chapter of SPICMACAY to promote the Indian classical music,
dance and culture among today’s youth. |
ODISSI
DANCE BY SPICMACAY |
A
breathtakingly beautiful form of sacred Odissi Dance was presented by two
talented traditional artists along with four musicians in the school auditorium
on 12 Oct 09.The dance that depicts religious
movements of Orissa through rhythmic movements of body, figures of worship and
meditation was made livelier by the astonishing performance given by the female
artist from Russia. |

group of 31 Cadets from class IX made a motivating tour

Defence Academy

Khadakwasla, Pune on 24 Nov 09 under the guidance of L Manoranjan Roy, Asst
Master in Chemistry ( Team In-charge) and ST Thang, Subedar (Asst Team
In-charge). The cadets got the golden opportunity to witness the Final Passing
Out Parade (FPOP) held on 29 Nov 09. |

The
whole school celebrated the popular festival of Dussehra on 28 September 09
sanctimoniously. The celebration started with the moral speech given by the
Principal inciting a sense of spiritualism and irreproachable idea to the

school celebrated the festival of Diwali on 17 Oct 09 with great enthusiasm and
fervor. The festival reflects delight in the soft glow of lights, the colorful

CROSS
COUNTRY RACE |
Cross
country race of the school was conducted on 22 Nov 09. The Principal flagged
off the race in which the participating cadets displayed their sports-spirit
and sense of enthusiasm. Cadet Tatem Taki (Adm No 2865) of Tagore House and
Cadet Khangamtha (Adm No 2702) of Raman House secured the first and second
runners up respectively.
