SAINIK SCHOOL CADETS AT RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN
A group of twenty cadets of this school accompanied by Principal and staff  called-on the Honourable President of India Smt Pratibha Devi Singh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 24 June 09. The President interacted with the cadets on wide ranging  issues concerning  youth of the country. She advised the young minds to work hard with dedication and contribute in the noble task of nation-building. These were indeed the most  cherishable moments for the school. The cadets also interacted with the Military Secretary and Deputy Military Secretary at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The group got an opportunity to visit the Museum, Banquet Hall and other magnificent places which were  immensely informative as well. The visit was inspired by GOC 57 Mt Div Maj Gen Shakti Gurung VSM.
WITH CHIEF OF THE AIR STAFF AT AIR HQs
The group visited Air Headquarters to meet the Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal PV Naik PVSM VSM ADC who himself is an alumnus of Sainik School Satara. During a frank interaction, the CAS urged the youth to be disciplined and tough to face the challenges to make our nation stronger. The group stayed at Air Force Station Ambala on 26-27 June 09 where they were exposed to the three fighter Squadrons, Missile Sqn, Jaguar Simulator and other important   installations   of   a fighter base. The cadets also visited Army formations and had first hand knowledge of basic    aspects   of operations in the Armed Forces. The motivational tour has widened the mental horizon of the cadets from North East through interaction with eminent personalities.
HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT
Out of twenty two cadets who passed the UPSC exam for 122 NDA course, seven cadets finally joined the course on 26 June 09. It is the largest number for a single course since inception of the school. We are proud of you.
VISIT TO JAPAN
54 students from all over India including two students from the school, Cdt N Chingthangkhomba and Cdt L Nikhil attended a programme held from 9 Jun to 17 Jun 09 in Japan organized by Japan East Asia Network of Exchange of Student and Youth. The aim of the  programme is to establish solidarity among the youth of the Asian countries and also to expose the participants to Japanese culture and lifestyle.
FIRST HELICOPTER LANDING AT SCHOOL COMPOUND
An ex-student of the school Major RK Shyam created history by making an authorised trial landing of a helicopter in the school compound on 13 May 09. The event generated tremendous enthusiasm among the students of the school who interacted with him during his  short  visit. The  pilot  and co-pilot  were honoured by  the  school during  a  brief ceremony. This  historic moment was made possible because of the efforts made by Major  General  Shakti  Gurung VSM, GOC 57 Mountain Division who is also the Chairman of Local Board of Administration of the school.
DEO TEBBA MOUNTAINEERING EXPEDITION
IPSC (All India Public School Conference)  mountaineering expedition to Deo Tebba (6001 mtrs) was conducted from 15  May to 4  June 09 in Himachal Pradesh. Students from six schools namely Sainik School Imphal, Sainik School Kunjupura, Sainik School Rewa, Punjab Public School , Rai Sports School Haryana and Naba Sports School Chandigarh participated. Three  cadets Lalhriatpuia (2403), Holkholen(2569) and John Sailo(2970) of the school were among the 22 cadets who successfully scaled the peak.
ARRIVAL OF MiG 21
The Indian Air Force has allotted an old aircraft shell of MiG-21   to    the  school.   The  aircraft  arrived  at  the school on 31 May 09 from Air Force Station Tezpur . It will find a place of pride at the most appropriate location in the school as a source of inspiration for the young cadets. Our deep sense of gratitude to the IAF.
CBSE RESULTS
The students of the school excelled in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination with pass percentage of 100% and All India Secondary School Examination with 98.59% .  Cdt L Nikhil topped with 92.6% in class 12 whereas Cdt S Michael  with 91.6% secured first position in class 10.  All 71 cadets of class X secured distinction in English.
FAREWELL TO CLASS 12
A Grand Farewell party for class 12 for the session 2008 - 09 batch was organised on 22 Mar 09. Parents and guardians of these cadets were also invited to the function. The cadets along with parents recounted  memories of their stay in  the school. To add colour to the festive mood, a Jazz band from Assam Rifles played delightful melodies. Each cadet was presented with a school memento.
10TH NATIONAL MUAY THAI CHAMPIONSHIP
Cdt Ansar Mustafa (2895) participated in the 10th National  Muaythai  Championship  held at Bangalorefrom   27  Mar  to  31  Mar  09 .  He   secured    second position and was awarded a silver medal bringing laurels to the school.
WORKSHOP ON ADJUSTMENT SKILLS FOR ADOLESCENCE
A Workshop on ‘Adjustment Skills for Adolescence’ was   organised   at   the     School     on   14    Feb    09 by Directorate of Education(S), Govt of Manipur. About 50 teachers from Sainik School and Manipur Public School took part in the Workshop.  Lectures on ‘Adjustment Problems‘ and ‘Delinquency’ were delivered by Dr Lenin, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Prof. M Akshaykumar Singh from the Department of Clinical Psychology, RIMS. Dr K Shantibala Devi, Senior Psychiatrist of JN Hospital talked on ‘Learning Disabilities and Gifted Children’ while Shri Th Radheshyam Singh, Supdt of Police, Imphal East gave  a lecture on ‘Drug Abuse and Coping Strategies’.
ADVENTURE CAMP
57 cadets of class 10 along with Lt Col Ch Joyraj Singh, the Headmaster    and     three     teachers    attended   an adventure camp organised by Bharat Scouts and Guides  at Pachmarhi (Madhya Pradesh) from 20 Mar  to  4 Apr 09. Students from Scindia School &  Little Angel School, Gwalior and G.G. Boarding school , Chattisgarh also participated in this camp  . Trekking for many miles a day,  they got an opportunity to  view picturesque tourist spots of Pachmarhi  namely, Chaura Garh,    Pandav    Cave,   Jata Sankar,   Sangam   Gorge, Beefall, etc which are famous sites for film shooting. Cadets of the school did exceedingly well in adventure sports like obstacle course, rock climbing, archery and shooting competition.
ADVENTURE COURSE BY MMI
The 62nd Combined Adventure Course  was organised by Manipur Mountaineering Institute from 24 May to 7 June 09. Twenty five cadets from the school participated in the camp. The course was to train the boys to be physically, mentally and socially fit to tackle obstacles and meet varied challenges of life successfully.

During an investiture ceremony in the school the cadet appointments were given rank badges by  their parents.
VIRASAT SERIES BY SPICMACAY
Pandit Ronu Majumdar, renowned Indian Ace flautist, winner  of  ‘Aditya Vikram Birla  Award’, gave a scintillating performance on flute at the school  auditorium  on  14  May  09. His incredible range of achievements include innumerable performances in world’s most  prestigious  venues such as The Kremlin,

Moscow, The Palais de Beaux Arts, Brussels etc. He was accompanied by Pandit Ramkumar Mishra, one of the   most  eminent   Tabla   players  and  outstanding representative  of  the  famous  Benaras Gharana. Pandit Ronu Majumdar mesmerised the audience with his mind blowing performance on flute and had a very productive  interaction  with  the  cadets  and staff on the finer aspects of the art form.

VISIT BY MIZORAM HEALTH MINISTER
The Hon’ble Health Minister of Mizoram Mr Lalrinliana visited the school on  26  June  09.  He  interacted with the school authorities and also met the Mizo boys studying in the school. During his visit he enquired about their welfare and academic progress.
REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION
Republic Day was celebrated in the school premises on 26 Jan 09 with enthusiasm and gaiety. A number of activities like pledge taking, sweets distribution and  Bara-Khana, marking festive mood, were organised on the occasion . Earlier the national tri-colour was unfurled by the Principal. In his address, the Principal reminded the cadets of the supreme sacrifices made by the country’s great freedom fighters.  The Chairman, LBA sent his good wishes and sweets to all students and staff of the school on the occasion.
STUDENTS ACADEMIC COUNCIL
A Students Academic Council in the school has been formed to improve the academic environment. All  class  toppers  of  the  previous   session  from class VII  to  XII are members of the council. The Council meets once in a month to discuss various issues regarding the teaching - learning climate in the school.
MANGO PARTY AT SAINIK HOUSE
To celebrate  mango   season,  boys  from different classes were invited to the Principal’s residence for mango feast in mango grove of Sainik House. It was a feast without table manners.

TOWARDS BETTER LIVING

WATER RESERVOIR
One of the biggest water reservoirs to store rain water upto four crore litres has been completed by the State Govt at a cost of Rs. 67 lacs. It will be a source of perennial water supply to the school.
RESOURCE CENTRE FOR NDA PREPARATION
A separate room has been constructed by the State Govt. at the cost of Rs. 23 lacs which will serve as a Resource Centre for NDA aspirant cadets.
RENOVATION OF DORMITORIES & CADETS’ MESS
Three dormitories and Cadets’ mess have acquired a new look with complete renovation of roofing, ceiling, electrical wiring and cupboards at a cost of Rs. 60 lacs on direction from the Honourable Chief Minister.
NEW DORMITORY & TWO STAFF QTRS
A new dormitory with a capacity to accommodate 120 cadets , two staff quarters and a boundary wall have been constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crores .

CAMPUS NEWS

LADIES CLUB MEET
A Ladies Club Meet is organised every month where all  the  ladies   of   staff  and  families  from the school campus assemble together to discuss a variety of issues relating to campus welfare.
INAUGURATION OF ACTIVITY ROOM
An   activity   room   for   the   young   kids   has   been constructed at the Sainik Foundation School  at a cost of Rs 5 Lacs.
INSTALLATION OF PLAY EQUIPMENT
Play equipment worth Rupees three and half lacs manufactured  by  Arihant  Corporation,  Mumbai  hasbeen installed at the Sainik Foundation School on 19 June   09   to   facilitate    and   encourage  physical and mental development of the tiny-tots. The facility has been thrown open to the children of staff in the evenings and on holidays.
