ADMISSION PROCEDURE |
The boys are admitted in classes VI and IX only. The admission
is made strictly as per the order of merit in entrance examination and
interview subject to medical fitness. |
DOMICILE

Only students belonging to either of the following states are
eligible for admission in the school:-
(a) Manipur
(b) Mizoram
(c) Tripura

AGE LIMIT
MANIPUR AND MIZORAM. CLASS VI |
Boys seeking admission should have completed 10 years of age
but not completed 11 years as on 01 July in the year of admission. He should
not have appeared for Sainik School Entrance Examination earlier from any other
centres in India.

CLASS IX |
Boys seeking admission should have completed 13 years of age
but not completed 14 years as on 01 July in the year of admission. The boys
seeking admission to class IX should be studying in class VIII in a recognized
school. He should not have appeared for Sainik School Entrance Examination for
Class IX earlier from any other centres in India. |
TRIPURA |
CLASS VI

Boys seeking admission should have completed 11yearsof age but
not completed 12years as on 01 July in the year of admission. |
CLASS IX |
Boys seeking admission should have completed14 years of age
but not completed 15 years as on 01 July in the year of admission. The other
conditions will remain the same as mentioned at para 49 (b) above. |
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION |
The Entrance Exam will consist of the following papers:- |

NOTE |
* The question papers would be given in the form of a combined
booklet which has to be answered in one sitting. |
MEDIUM OF EXAM |
The medium of examination for both classes will be English or
another recognised official language. While the question paper for class VI
will be set in English as well as in all other recognised official languages,
the question paper for class IX will be set in English only. No separate answer
sheets are required for both class VI and IX as ample space for answers is
provided in question paper itself. |
QUALIFYING MARKS IN ENTRANCE EXAM |
The minimum qualifying marks for general category candidates
as well as for children of Defence Personnel and Ex-Servicemen will be 25% in
each subject with 40% in aggregate. In case of SC/ST candidates, minimum
qualifying academic standards are not required and they will be admitted on the
basis of inter-se merit as evidenced at the entrance examination/interview
within these categories. In case a SC/ST candidate comes in the general merit
on his own, he would be admitted over and above the reserved seats. |
EXAM CENTRES |
The Entrance Exam will be conducted simultaneously at the
following centres:-
(a) IMPHAL, AIZAWL, AGARTALA
(b) All other Sainik Schools and the centres as fixed by them in their
respective states. |
NOTE |
The school authority reserves the right to cancel any centre,
if sufficient numbers of candidates are not available for that centre or for
any other reason. The applicants should, therefore, also indicate their second
choice of centre. |
NOTE1 |
Those boys who are not the domicile of the five north eastern
states of India as mentioned at para 48 of this prospectus but wish to appear
in the Entrance Examination being conducted by Sainik School lmphal for
admission to other Sainik Schools may obtain the prospectus-cum-application
from the Principal of the concerned school in which admission is sought and
submit the same to that school who will arrange their test in consultation with
Sainik School lmphal at the chosen centres. |
INTERVIEW |
The interview shall carry maximum marks of 50. The final merit
list shall be compiled on the basis of total marks scored in the written exam
and the interview. Though it is not mandatory for a candidate to qualify
separately in the interview, however, absence from the interview will lead to
disqualification. |
VACANCIES |
The exact number of vacancies will be known only by the month
of April/May in the year of examination. Parents willing to admit their
wards/sons in other Sainik Schools are to give an undertaking that they are
willing to admit their sons/wards in other Sainik Schools as full fee paying
students (in case their wards qualify in the test but placed low in the merit
list of the school of their domicile) and they will not later on, seek
inter-school transfer of their wards. |
RESERVATION OF SEATS |
67% seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Manipur
state and remaining 33% will be shared by the candidates of other states. Out
of the total vacancies, 15% seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST
candidates, 25% seats are reserved for the wards of Defence Service Personnel
including Ex-Servicemen. |

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION |
Application for admission is to be made only on the prescribed
forms. A list of documents to be submitted along with application is given
below:-
(a) One copy of recent passport size
photograph. This photograph is in addition to those to be pasted on the
Application, Admit Card and Identification certificate (Total 4 photographs)
(b) Three self addressed envelopes (12.5 cm. x 27 cm) with
postage Stamps worth Rs. 30/- duly affixed on each for sending Admit Card, Call
letter by Registered Post. Correct address for correspondence Address must be
ensured.
(c) Certificate of Age: Application for admission must
invariably be supported by a date of birth certificate as indicated below.
(Applications not supported by date of birth certificate will be rejected
without any reference to the parents).
(d) In case of boys who are attending or have previously
attended a recognised school, a date of birth certificate obtained from the
school duly countersigned by the DIOS is to be attached with the application
for admission.
(e) In case of boys who have not attended any recognised
school/institution, parents/guardians may submit a certified record based on
the Birth Register kept by the Municipal/local Birth Registration Office, where
his birth might have been registered.
(f) In case of boys whose parents are Defence Service Personnel
or Ex-Servicemen, a date of birth certificate issued by the Record Office/OC
unit as per the Service Book records will be accepted as an evidence of age.
(g) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Certificate, if applicable,
must be issued by competent authority.
(h) In Case of Defence Personnel and Ex-Servicemen :- If the
parent is a serving defence personnel, a certificate from the Commanding
Officer of the Unit giving the service details of the father (No., Rank, Corps,
Unit, etc.) should be submitted. In case of Ex-Servicemen an attested copy of
"Discharge Certificate" duly countersigned by Secretary Rajya Sainik Board
should be submitted.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION |
Candidates belonging to Manipur state should submit the
application to the Principal, Sainik School Imphal. The applications in respect
of candidates belonging to Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura
should be submitted to the Director of School Education of their Respective
states. |
ADMIT CARD FOR WRITTEN EXAM |
Admit Cards will be sent only to the eligible candidates. The
candidates will be allowed to write the entrance examination only on production
of the admit Cards. |
LAST DATE FOR DESPATCH OF ADMIT CARD |
The admit cards for the examination will be posted by
registered post so as to reach the candidates at least one week before the date
of examination. In case the Admit Card is not received by the due date, the
parents are advised to report to the Examination Centre of their choice along
with two copies of passport size photograph of the boy and the copy of the
prospectus one day before the date of examination. |
RESULT OF WRITTEN EXAM |
The result of Written Examination will be published in the
local newspapers by mid February. In addition, qualified candidates will be
intimated individually by post. |
CALL FOR INTERVIEW & MEDICAL EXAM |
The candidates will be called for interview and Medical
Examination strictly according to their position in the merit list. Mere
qualifying in the entrance test does not give any right to attend the
interview. Request for marks sheet will be entertained provided the request is
accompanied by a Postal Order/Draft of Rs.50/-. Parents may note that call for
interview and medical examination does not guarantee admission in the school,
since, as per rules, the number of candidates called for interview and medical
examination will be three times the number of existing vacancies. |
ALL YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT BOND AGREEMENT |
Bond 1
Parents/Guardians of those students who are finally selected for admission will
be required to execute an agreement bond prior to the admission of their
sons/wards. Proforma of this agreement will be forwarded to them along with the
call up letter for admission.

Before applying for admission, parents are advised to get a
thorough medical examination of their wards to ensure that they are free from
such constitutional defects which may render them unfit for the Armed Forces.
If such defects are noticed and physical development of the boy appears to be
subnormal in the opinion of the Medical Board, the Principal reserves the right
to reject the admission of the boy.
Bond

If a boy is declared medically unfit the fact will be
intimated to the parents along with the cause of rejection. Parents may prefer
an appeal if they so desire, to the Principal within 15 days from the date of
receipt of the letter intimating the medical unfitness of their wards. The
appeal should be accompanied by a medical report from a Government specialist
Medical Officer concerning the disease/defect. Such Medical Officer should
mention in his report that he has perused the Sainik School letter intimating
the cause for rejection by the Medical Board and that he has further examined
the candidate and finds him fit. A Medical Review Fee of RS.100/- through Bank
draft at SBI lmphal in favour of the Principal, Sainik School, Imphal should
also be remitted by the parent along with the appeal to the school.

The Principal will decide
with reference to the evidence produced before him, whether the case calls for
a review medical board. If the Principal is satisfied, he will arrange for a
review Medical Board for re-examination of the candidate. The parent should
produce the boy before the Review Medical Board at the designated place at his
own expense. If the board finds the boy fit for admission, his name will be
included in the panel for admission in the order of merit, the Medical Review
Fee shall be refunded.

PAYMENTOF FEE |
The school fee may be deposited either in one lump-sum or be
paid in two instalments. Those paying fee in instalment will pay 70% of the
total amount at the beginning and the balance amount plus 5% of the 2nd
instalment to be paid by December. |
INDIVIDUAL BILLING |
The School follows a SIX MONTHLY BILLING SYSTEM as part of
which a STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT is issued to parents twice a year, in May and
December. The statement of account shall reflect all refunds/recoveries due to
the parents. The parents are required to pay the dues as per the statement of
account by the 15th of June and 15th December every year. While the statement
of account issued in May would comprise payments to be made for the entire
academic year in advance, the statement of account issued in the month of
December would generally include minor recoveries/refunds or the payment of 2nd
instalment. |
NONPAYMENTOF FEE |
The onus and responsibility of paying the Fee by due date as
mentioned herein, lies with the parents. Ignorance or non-receipt of intimation
letter in this regard will not be considered as an excuse. Please refer to
para46 (b) of this Prospectus for further details. |
MODE OF PAYMENT |
All payments to the school should be sent/deposited by Crossed
Demand Draft payable to PRINCIPAL SAINIK SCHOOL - IMPHAL at State Bank of
India, Imphal or Manipur Rural Bank - Pangei. The Name and Adm. Number of the
students should be written on the reverse of the draft. CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED
UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
