SAINIK SCHOOL IMPHAL ADJUDGED BEST IN ITS

CATEGORY  ON 62ND REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
Imphal, 27 Jan 2011

62nd Republic Day was celebrated in the school premises with enthusiasm and fervor. Col Ravi Kumar, Principal of the school unfurled the national tri-color and addressed the cadets reminding them of the supreme sacrifices made by the country’s great freedom fighters. He said that the cadets should grow with wholesome personality maintaining the unity and diversity amongst them. Sweets distribution and Bara-Khana were organized on this auspicious occasion.

A contingent of 50 cadets and school band consisting of 20 cadets also participated in the State Level Republic Day Celebrations held at 1st Manipur Rifles. The School Contingent and band were adjudged first among all contingents from the State in March Past and Band of NCC Category and won prizes.

RRM SHRI MM PALLAM RAJU VISITS SAINIK SCHOOL IMPHAL

Union Minister of State for Defence Shri MM Pallam Raju and Chairman, Board of Governors of Sainik Schools Society visited Sainik School Imphal on 12 Nov 2010. The Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects. He inspected various facilities of the school like Computer Lab, Language Lab and Cadets’ dormitories. A special lunch was organised in the Cadets’ Mess where he complimented Cadets for their overall progress in various spheres of educational excellence. He also exhorted them to work harder and realize their dream of joining Indian Armed Forces through NDA entry scheme.
SAINIK SCHOOL CELEBRATES THE 39TH RAISING DAY

Sainik School Imphal celebrated the 39th Raising Day with great pomp and show on 07 Oct 2009. Shri L Jayantakumar Singh, Hon'ble Minister of Education and Transport, Govt of Manipur presided over the function. On arrival of the Chief Guest, an impressive Guard of Honour was presented by the NCC cadets of the school. The celebration started with the inauguration of Science & Arts Exhibition by Brig RS Grewal, Deputy GOC 57 Mtn Div on 06 Oct 2010. The main attraction of the exhibition was display of defence Equipment of Assam Rifles and various working models made by school cadets in the Science and Arts Exhibition. A variety Entertainment program was also presented by the cadets to showcase their talent and artistic skills. The Hon'ble Education Minister gave away Late Capt Bimolkumar Singh Memorial Award for securing highest percentage in Class IX and X Final Examination 2009-2010 to Cdt Parikshit Thoudam of Raman House and Cdt Mohsin Khan of Tagore House respectively. Mrs O Ibetombi Devi, wife of late Maj SK Singh gave the Prestigious Late Maj SK Singh Memorial Award for best performance in class X CBSE Board Exam 2009-2010 to Cdt Mohsin khan. The coveted NDA trophy was bagged by Shivaji House while Best House for academics was bagged by Tagore House.

In his address by the Principal, he appealed to the State Govt to undertake two main projects mainly to construct an additional hostel of capacity of 120 boys to tide over the congestion in existing hostels and secondly running water facilities to the cadets and staff of the school.

Shri L Jayantakumar Singh, Hon'ble Minister, in his address to the cadets, staff and parents, complimented the school for excelling in every field of activity. He stressed the need to continue to work hard with dedication and sincerity for achievement of the laid down objectives. Further, he assured that he will look into the requirements of school and invited Principal for a discussion to explore the resources for the projects.

CADETS OF SAINIK SCHOOL IMPHAL IN NTSE SCHOLARSHIP

Three cadets of Sainik School Imphal namely, Cdt Phasang Pama, Cdt Lamtar Nasi and Cdt Kirong Apang, have made the state of Manipur proud by qualifying the interview for award of NTSE Scholarship held on 03 Aug 2010 at Shillong. They were eligible for the interview after passing Second Level Written National Talent Search Examination for class VIII held on 08 May 2010. NTSE is being conducted by NCERT under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi, Govt of India every year for providing financial assistance in the form of scholarship to talented students which covers areas like Sciences, Social Sciences, engineering, medicine, management and Law. each successful student will be getting Rs 6000/- per annum as scholarship upto class XII, subsequently enhanced and awarded upto PhD @ JRF & SRF level stipend per month
SAINIK SCHOOL SHINES IN IT FEST 2010

Cadets of Sainik School Imphal brought laurels to the school by becoming winners in Debate and Ex-tempore Speech Competitions in the IT Fest 2010 organized by Computer Science Department, Manipur University in association with Department of Information & Technology, Govt of Manipur from 17 Sep to 19 Sep 2010. In Debate (Category A), Cdt Parikshit Thoudam (Class X, Adm No 2721), Cdt Rizwan Malik (Class XII, Adm No 2515) and Cdt Molalngam (Class IX, Adm No 2927) bagged first, second and third positions respectively while Cdt Yumlam Pulu (Class XII, Adm No 2562), Cdt Vanlalhmachhuana (Class XII, Adm No 2523) and Cdt John Sailo (Class XII, Adm No 2970) were adjudged first, second and third positions respectively in Ex-tempore Speech Competition. The winners were awarded with cash prizes and certificates.
SAINIK SCHOOL TRIUMPHS IN THE RED SHIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

Sainik School Imphal clinched the trophy becoming the overall champion in the 1st Red Shield Championship organized by 57 Mtn Div, Leimakhong from 01 Sep to 09 Sep 2010. Six leading schools of the state namely, Sainik School Imphal, Kendriya Vidyalaya Leimakhong, JNV Khumbong, Manipur Public School, Don Bosco High School, Chingmeirong and Kendriya Vidyalaya Lamphel have participated in the championship in four disciplines i.e., quiz, debate, football and basketball. During the championship, Sainik School Imphal won the Co-curricular Championship Trophy. Again Sainik School Imphal took the Championship Trophy in Football and Basketball by defeating all teams in every match during the tournament. In the Closing Ceremony function presided by Major General DS Hooda, VSM** GOC 57 Mtn Div, prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners and other participants. The championship has been organized to give a platform to the students of these schools to showcase their sportmanship and talents as well as a chance to interact amongst them.
ALL INDIA SAINIK SCHOOLS FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Sainik School Imphal became the Champion of Champions by defeating South Zone Champion, Central Zone Champion, West Zone Champion and North Zone Champion in the Inter Zonal Sainik Schools Football Championship held at Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland from 26 Aug to 30 Aug 2010. During the championship both the teams i.e. U-17 and U-14 defeated all other teams in every match of the tournament. Cdt Joychand (Adm No 3003) bagged the 'Best Scorer Award' with a tally of 12 goals. The school teams, both U-14 and U-17 qualified to participate in the Championship by emerging Champion in the East Zone Sainik Schools Football Championship held at Sainik School Purulia, West Bengal in July 2010. Now the school teams will represent Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence in the prestigious Subroto Cup Championship to be held at Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi in the month of October.
SAINIK SCHOOL IMPHAL OBSERVED MARTYRS' DAY

Sainik School Imphal observed matryrs' Day today, the 13th Aug 2010 at the school Kangla Hall. Group Captain Surinder Singh, Principal, Staff and cadets paid floral tributes to the Martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of liberation of our country from British Empire. Cadet Imlikokpa of Class XI delivered a speech on supreme sacrifices made by the great freedom fighters. The special feature of the programme was display of rare photographs taken during the year 1891.

On this day, Inter-House Quiz Competitions both for Junior and Senior categories were organised. In the Senior category, Cdt Dhanakumar and Cdt Haokhulen of Tagore House stood 1st position while Cdt Nongpoknganba and Cdt Marli of Shivaji House secured 1st position in the Junior category.

VIRASAT SERIES BY SPICMACAY AT SAINIK SCHOOL IMPHAL

A group of six Rajasthani Sufi singers led by the renowned artist Sri Jamil Khan gave a scintillating performance in the Manekshaw Auditorium of the school on 19 April 2010. The band of musicians and singers presented heart wrenching songs of love, worship and praise of God which mesmerized the audience. The programme was organized by the school as a part of Virasat Series 2010-11 under the aegis of SPICMACAY, Imphal Chapter to promote Indian Classical Music, Dance and Culture amongst youth. The students and staff of Sainik View Getwell School were also invited to witness the programme.
SAINIK SCHOOL CADETS AT 234 NATIONAL ADVENTURE COURSE

A contingent of 41 Cadets from class X led by two staff of Sainik School Imphal proceeded for the prestgious National Adventure Institute of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Pachmari, Madhya Pradesh to attend 234th National Adventure Course from 24 Apr to 30 Apr 2010. Group Captain Surinder Singh, principal of the school flagged off the journey after a short briefing on 19 Apr 2010. The cadets will participate in various activities like Trekking, Boating, Horse Riding, Rock Climbing, Rifle Shooting, Archery, Skating etc. In addition, the cadets will get an opportunity to interact with students from various parts of the country for the camp. Last month, 60 cadets had visited Gorkha Training Centre and HQ of Eastern Air Command at Shillong.
