Question: How Sainik School Imphal is different from other schools?

Answer: Sainik School lmphal is a residential English medium Public School for boys, imparting Public School education with a military bias. Apart from preparing the students academically, the school endeavours to develop character, team spirit, loyalty, esprit-de-corps and a high sense of discipline amongst students of the school. The school is also a member of Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC).

Question: Students from which state are admitted in the school?

Answer: Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Question: How far is the school from Imphal?

Answer: The School is located in a picturesque area at a distance of approximately 8 kms from Imphal on Imphal-Pukhao road.

Question: What is the area of the school campus?

Answer: The School campus spread over an area of 268 acres.

Question: When was Sainik School Imphal established?

Answer: The School was established on 07 Oct 1971.

Question: To which Board the school is affiliated to?

Answer: The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

Question: In which class new admission is taken?

Answer: The boys are admitted in classes VI and IX only.

Question: How is admission made to the school?

Answer: The admission is made strictly as per the order of merit in entrance examination and interview subject to medical fitness.

Question: When is the entrance exam?

Answer: Entrance exam is held on the first Sunday of every year.

Question: What is the medium of exam?

Answer: The medium of examination for both classes will be English or another recognized official language. While the question paper for class VI will be set in English as well as in all other recognized official languages, the question paper for class IX will be set in English only. No separate answer sheets are required for both class VI and IX as ample space for answers is provided in question paper itself.

Question: What is the qualifying mark in the entrance exam?

Answer: The minimum qualifying marks for general category candidates as well as for children of Defence Personnel and Ex-Servicemen will be 25% in each subject with 40% in aggregate. In case of SC/ST candidates, minimum qualifying academic standards are not required and they will be admitted on the basis of inter-se merit as evidenced at the entrance examination/interview within these categories. In case a SC/ST candidate comes in the general merit on his own, he would be admitted over and above the reserved seats.

Question: Where are the exam centres?

Answer: Imphal, Aizawl, Agartala, all other Sainik Schools and the centres as fixed by them in their respective states.

Question: Is the written exam only the qualifying exam?

Answer: No. after the written exam is cleared, students have to appear in the Interview and then the Medical Fitness Test.
